Vipers SC goalkeeper Alfred Mudekereza has been named best footballer of the month of October at the Fortebet Real Star Awards.
The shot stopper who saved two penalties as Vipers eliminated TP Mazembe to reach the CAF Champions’ League group stages, beat off competition from BUL FC midfielder Richard Wandyaka and Arua Hill SC defender Rashid Toha, to win the award.
Mudekereza was accompanied to the award ceremony which was held in Lugogo by his goal keeping coach, Ibrahim Mugisha.
“I am honoured and feel privileged to win this award and I know this will help me work harder in future. Mudekereza said on Tuesday.
The day’s other winners included Rose Akon of UCU Lady Canons who was named best basketballer after guiding the lady Canons to the title in the National Basketball League.
Andrew Sekibejja emerged best golfer after winning the Tusker Malt Uganda Open amateur title while Immaculate Nakisuyi and Christine Birungi win in Cricket and woodball respectively.
The Fortebet real star awards happen every first Tuesday of the month to award the best athletes of the month in different disciplines.
