City Oilers got their BAL-Elite 16 off to a winning start thanks to a 71-59 win over COSPN on Tuesday.

The Oilers were quick out of the blocks to establish a 47-26 halftime lead, putting themselves into the driving seat before storming to the crucial win.

Forward Germaine Roebuck led the team charge with 17 points while Falando Jones and Titus Lual added 15 and 11 points respectively, in what was a brilliant offensive display by the 8-time FUBA National Basketball League defending champions.

Oilers need to finish amongst the top three teams at this round to qualify for their first ever BAL tournament.

They next face Zambian side Matero Magic on Wednesday before finishing their group stage campaign against Mozambique’s Ferroviario Da Beira on Thursday.

Next year’s BAL tournament will be the third edition of the tournament with Tunisia’s US Monastir the current competition’s holders.
