Federation Heads Grilled By Adhoc Committee Over NCS Appropriation Of Funds

The national council of sports allocation of funds continued to raise eyebrows at the ongoing investigations with federation heads expressing dissatisfaction, in Thursday hearing before the ADHOC committee of Parliament.

Boxing federation president, Moses Muhangi, FUFA president Moses Magogo, and his executive representatives, FUBA president Nasser Serunjongi and Mpindi Bumaali were the first federation heads to appear before the committee today at Parliament.

Key in his submissions, the Uganda Boxing federation’s Muhangi revealed that his federation only 139 Million Uganda shillings was given to the federation out of the three billion expected.

“We have received only 139 Million Shillings so far yet we are supposed to get 3 billion as stipulated by the budget. Muhangi said.

“Thus is so bothering because our activities are bothered and we can not represent the nation in several international competitions.”

Before the same committee, FUFA president Moses Muhangi revealed how they received less of the money allocated to the football federation despite being released by the ministry of finance.

“We always learn that a sufficient amount has been released by the Ministry of Finance but get less and just like all federations, our activities tend to stall.” Magogo told the committee.

Members of the select committee chaired by Hon. Laura Kanushu, tasked the members to explain their federations operations which they did.

While appearing before the committee on Tuesday NCS general Dr. Patrick Ogwel said they council has not received the biggest amount of the 48billoion shillings allocated to Sport, with most spent on activities of the 2022 Commonwealth Games, Shs1 billion for the Fifth Islamic Solidarity games in Turkey and Shs400 million for the 2022 Rugby Sevens World Cup in South Africa among others.

Investigations continue on Friday with Netball federation president sarah Babirye Kityo among the federation heads expected to appear before the ADHOC committee.
