The Gazelles have made it to the AfroBasket, set to take place in Kigali this year in July, regardless of them losing to Egypt in the Zone V finals.
The Gazelles managed to book a ticket to Kigali due to the availability of the Wildcard ticket .
This will be the first time the ladies from Uganda will return to the continental tournament since 2015, one that was played in a West African nation, Cameroon, in the city of Yaounde.
According to reports, they stated that the wild card came to Zone V because it seemed to be one of the most competitive qualifiers played for the Afrobasket tournament.
Some of the countries the Uganda Gazelles will be competing with in Kigali include Rwanda, who automatically qualified because they are hosting the tournament; Egypt, who emerged as champions of Zone V; Nigeria, Senegal, Cameroon, and Mali.
