Mason Greenwood and Manchester United have jointly decided that the English international will pursue his career elsewhere, as officially confirmed by the club.
In an official statement released by the club following a thorough investigation into allegations of domestic violence, Manchester United declared:
‘Our internal investigation into the allegations made against Mason Greenwood commenced in February 2023, following the dropping of all charges against him. Throughout this process, we have diligently considered the wishes, rights, and perspective of the alleged victim, while upholding the club’s standards and values. We have strived to gather as much information and context as possible, often requiring a sensitive and meticulous approach to secure evidence not publicly available, including insights from those directly involved in the case.
Based on the evidence available to us, we have concluded that the online material posted did not present a complete picture, and Mason did not commit the offenses he was originally charged with. However, as Mason publicly acknowledges today, he has made mistakes for which he is taking full responsibility.
All parties involved, including Mason himself, recognize the challenges associated with his return to Manchester United. Therefore, it has been mutually agreed that it would be most appropriate for him to continue his career away from Old Trafford. We are committed to working closely with Mason Greenwood to facilitate this transition.’
