Ugandan long-distance runner Ali Chebures claimed victory at the 23rd edition of the Tallinn Half-Marathon on Saturday, crossing the finish line in a remarkable time of 1:01.35.
The 31-year-old Ugandan, who is a three-time national champion, faced stiff competition from a strong field of elite runners. Last year, Chebures signed a three-year agreement with the Spanish sports management group Xiruca Sports Agency, showcasing his commitment to reaching new heights in his athletic career.
Chebures entered the Tallinn Half-Marathon with the second-fastest recorded time on paper, a remarkable 1:00.53 that he achieved at the Barcelona Half Marathon, where he finished in seventh place. On Saturday, he lived up to expectations by delivering a stunning performance, finishing the race in 1:01.35 to clinch the top honors.
Following closely behind Chebures were a group of talented Kenyan runners who showcased their prowess on the course. Elvis Chevor secured second place with a time of 1:01.45, just ten seconds behind the race leader. Eric Leon Ndiema, who entered the race as the favorite and boasted a personal best time of 59:57 from the 2010 Hague City-Pier-City Half Marathon, claimed the third spot on the podium with a time of 1:01.50.
The Kenyan dominance continued with Solomon Koech finishing fourth in 1:02.01, and Collins Kipkirui Kipkorir rounded out the top five, crossing the finish line in 1:02.04.
