Ugandan defender, Shafik Batambuze has signed a short-term five-month contract with Kenyan side Kakamega Homeboyz. Despite being a free agent, Batambuze has been actively training with the Kenyan team after completing the first round of the season with Tanzania’s Singida Big Stars. Competing for a starting position, Batambuze will vie against counterpart Farouk Musisi, bringing his experience that includes representing Uganda at the 2017 AFCON finals in Gabon.
Joining fellow Ugandans Cleo James Ssetuba and Davis Kasirye at Kakamega Homeboyz, Batambuze strengthens the team’s roster for the ongoing CAF Confederation Cup. Alongside Musisi, the three-capped defender will contribute to Kakamega Homeboyz’s pursuit of success in the tournament and the Kenyan Premier League.
Batambuze’s professional journey spans across various leagues, including notable clubs like Gor Mahia, Tusker FC, Sofapaka, Western Stima, and Muhoroni Youth. His extensive experience also encompasses playing for Simba FC and SC Villa, as well as Zambia’s Kabwe Warriors. His arrival adds depth and quality to Kakamega Homeboyz’s defensive lineup, bolstering their prospects in the Kenyan Premier League.
