Young Africans from Tanzania have secured their spot in the TotalEnergies CAF Champions League, along with five other teams. These teams include defending champions Al Ahly, Mamelodi Sundowns from South Africa, ASEC Mimosas from Ivory Coast, TP Mazembe from DR Congo, and Petro de Luanda from Angola.
Among the teams in the quarter-finals, four are former winners: Al Ahly (11 titles), ASEC Mimosas (1 title), Mamelodi Sundowns (1 title), and TP Mazembe (5 titles).
In Group A, Mamelodi Sundowns and TP Mazembe have already qualified, while Group D has been decided by Al Ahly and Young Africans.
Group B remains contested, with Wydad AC from Morocco and Simba AC tied on six points. Wydad AC faces ASEC Mimosas, while Simba AC plays against Jwaneng Galaxy in the final round.
In Group C, Petro de Luanda’s qualification has been confirmed, and the battle for the second spot will be between Esperance Sportive de Tunis and Al-Hilal. The two teams face each other in a crucial fixture in Tunis on Saturday.
The upcoming fixtures for Match Day 6 are as follows:
Friday, 01 March:
1.CR Belouizdad vs. Medeama
2.Al Ahly vs. Young Africans
Saturday, 02 March:
1.Pyramids vs. Nouadhibou
2.Mamelodi Sundowns vs. TP Mazembe
3.Simba vs. Jwaneng
4.Wydad vs. ASEC
5.ES Tunis vs. Al-Hilal
6.Petro de Luanda vs. ES Sahel
It seems like an exciting conclusion to the group stage with several important matches that will determine the final standings and the teams progressing to the next stage of the competition.
