Ugandan athlete Halimah Nakaayi blazed her way into the semi-finals of the 800-meter race at the 2024 World Indoor Championships held in Glasgow. She came first in Heat 5 with an impressive time of 2:02:42. Following closely behind in Heat 5 was Switzerland’s Lore Hoffmann, who clocked in at 2:02.53.
Nakaayi will now aim to outpace her competitors, including Great Britain’s Jemma Reekie, whose outstanding time of 1:59.45 in Heat 3 currently holds the top spot among all heats in the category at the competition.
Ethiopian athletes Tsige Duguma and Habitam Alemu who posted identical times of 2:00.50 will join Nakaayi in the semi-finals.
Kenya’s Vivian Chebet Kiprotich also secured her spot in the semi-finals, achieving a personal best time of 2:00.86.
The 2024 World Athletics Indoor Championships are the 19th edition of this prestigious event, hosted at the Emirates Arena in Glasgow, Scotland.
The semi-finals are scheduled for March 2nd and the highly anticipated finals are set for March 3rd.
