Ahead of the All Africa Games 2023 Tournament in Accra, Uganda Hippos Head Coach Morley Byekwaso has unveiled the 20-man squad set to represent the nation.
The announcement was made during a ceremonial dinner at the Imperial Royale Hotel which was officiated by the Minister of State for Sports Hon. Peter Ogwang and FUFA President Hon. Magogo Moses Hassim.
During the send-off event, Minister Ogwang emphasized the importance of commitment and national pride, urging the players to give their best performance on the field. He assured the team of full government support and pledged his own attendance at the tournament.
FUFA President Magogo echoed the sentiment, emphasizing the role of the players as the future of Ugandan football. He encouraged them to seize the opportunity to showcase their talent and potentially earn spots on the Senior National Team, especially with the prospect of hosting AFCON 2027 on the horizon.
The All Africa Games 2023 Tournament, scheduled from March 7th to 23rd, will see Uganda competing in Group B alongside South Sudan, Senegal, and Nigeria.
