Ahead of the All Africa Games 2023 Tournament in Accra, Uganda Hippos Head Coach Morley Byekwaso has unveiled the 20-man squad set to represent the nation. 

The announcement was made during a ceremonial dinner at the Imperial Royale Hotel which was officiated by the Minister of State for Sports Hon. Peter Ogwang and FUFA President Hon. Magogo Moses Hassim.

During the send-off event, Minister Ogwang emphasized the importance of commitment and national pride, urging the players to give their best performance on the field. He assured the team of full government support and pledged his own attendance at the tournament.

FUFA President Magogo echoed the sentiment, emphasizing the role of the players as the future of Ugandan football. He encouraged them to seize the opportunity to showcase their talent and potentially earn spots on the Senior National Team, especially with the prospect of hosting AFCON 2027 on the horizon.

The All Africa Games 2023 Tournament, scheduled from March 7th to 23rd, will see Uganda competing in Group B alongside South Sudan, Senegal, and Nigeria. 

The final squad includes a mix of experienced players and rising talents from various clubs:

Goalkeepers:

– Abdul Magada (Gaddafi FC)

– Shamulan Kamya (Soltilo Bright Stars FC)

– Humphrey Oyirwoth (Bukedea Comprehensive School)

Defenders:

– Haruna Lukwago (KCCA FC)

– Ibrahim Juma (CD Leganes)

– Enock Luyima (Vipers SC)

– Ronald Madoi (SFK Pierikos)

– Apollo Kagogwe (Wakiso Giants FC)

– Cyrus Kibande (SC Villa)

– Rogers Torach (Vipers SC)

Midfielders:

– Innocent Kisolo (URA FC)

– Ivan Irinimbabazi (SFK Pierikos)

– Allan Oyirwoth (Brook House College)

– Hakim Mutebi (SC Villa)

Forwards:

– Abbas Kyeyune (SC Villa)

– Arafat Kizza Usama (KCCA FC)

– Patrick Jonah Kakande (SC Villa)

– Shafiq Magogo (Kitara FC)

– Alpha Thiery Ssali (Express FC)

– Bruno Bunyaga (URA FC)

The technical team accompanying the squad includes Head Coach Morley Byekwaso Ochama, Assistant Coach Simeon Massa, Goalkeeping Coach Stephen Billy Kiggundu, Fitness Coach Noah Kasule, Team Doctor Michael Gumisiriza, Team Physiotherapist Rashid Kebba, Equipment Manager Frank Bumpenje, and Media Officer Joel Cornelius Kivumbi.
