Uganda’s Gloria Anna Muzito claimed a Bronze Medal in the Women’s Freestyle 100m Swimming Event at the 13th All Africa Games in Accra, Ghana. She also set a new personal best and national record with a time of 56.01 seconds.
Despite a slow start in the final, Muzito showcased incredible determination, closing the gap and clinching the third position to secure the medal.
South Africa’s De Lange Caitlin Ann clinched Gold with a time of 55.53 seconds, while Egypt’s Hisham Ahmed Osman Farida secured Silver in 55.62 seconds.
Muzito’s journey to the finals was marked by excellence, finishing first in heat 3 with a time of 56.96.
Reflecting on her achievement, Muzito expressed her joy, stating, ‘I’m very happy to achieve a personal best and maintain composure throughout the race. It was a great swim, and I just focused on reaching the finish line.’
In the 4x100m Freestyle Relay Final, South Africa claimed Gold with a record-breaking time of 3:34:41, with Egypt securing Silver (3:37:01) and Algeria Bronze (3:40:45). Uganda displayed a strong performance, finishing sixth with a time of 3:47:37.
