In a thrilling finale at Lugogo Hockey Stadium, Wananchi Sports Club emerged victorious over Kampala Swans to clinch the Pearl of Africa Women’s Cup. The tournament, organized by the Uganda Hockey Association in honor of International Women’s Day, spanned three exciting days of passionate competition.
The action kicked off on March 8 with a showcase of talent from various schools, including Gayaza High School, Kyadondo SS, Naalya SS, and St. Julian High School. After intense matches, Kyadondo SS emerged as the winners of the schools cup, showcasing their skill and determination on the field.
As the excitement continued on March 9, club teams took center stage, with notable participants such as Mombasa Sports Club from Kenya, invited to partake in the tournament alongside Wananchi, Kampala Hockey Club, Deliverance Church Club, and Wananchi HDF. The competition was intense, with Kampala Swans and Wananchi neck and neck, tied at 8 points on the table log.
However, in a display of sheer determination and skill, Wananchi Sports Club triumphed over Kampala Hockey Club in a gripping final showdown, securing their victory and etching their name in the annals of hockey history.
