In an encounter that later turned chaotic at the FUFA Technical Center in Njeru, UPDF FC emerged victorious against BUL FC with a narrow 1-0 win.
The only goal of the match came in the 73rd minute when Hussein Zzinda’s header found the back of the net, capitalizing on a defensive mix-up within the BUL team.
The game took a chaotic turn when BUL’s Gerald Ogweti was shown a straight red card just five minutes after UPDF’s goal for an off-camera incident. This setback further dented BUL’s hopes of salvaging a result from the match.
As tensions ran high, UPDF’s Christopher Kawagu received his second yellow card deep into injury time for attempting to waste time, adding to the drama of the game.
The loss means BUL FC remain in second place in the league standings, trailing leaders Kitara FC by just one point. However, their position is under threat with Vipers FC, who are four points behind them but have two games in hand.
Meanwhile, UPDF FC’s victory propels them forward in their battle against relegation, although they still find themselves in the relegation zone, level on points with Busoga United FC at 16 points.
The match marked the first time since 2016 that BUL FC suffered a defeat to UPDF FC on their home turf.
