The Federation of Uganda Basketball Associations (FUBA) has officially unveiled the squads that will represent Uganda at the ongoing All-Africa Games in Accra, Ghana.
The the teams will participate in the 3X3 basketball tournament, where they will showcase their skills in this fast-paced variation of the game.
The men’s team, drawn from some of Uganda’s top basketball clubs, comprises Kayira Joel and Marvin Okurut Jessy from UCU Canons, Obleng Peter from KIU Titans, and Lubwama Duncan from JT Jaguars.
These are set to face stiff competition in Group B, where they’ll go head-to-head against Ivory Coast, Togo, and Benin. Their campaign kicks off on March 19th with a challenging fixture against Ivory Coast.
Meanwhile, the women’s team, featuring Lamunu Sheilah and Aber Bridget from UCU Lady Canons, Amaniyo Mary from KIU Rangers, and Longom Becky from JKL Lady Dolphins, is equally geared up for action.
Pooled in Group C, they’ll lock horns with Botswana, Burundi, and Benin in what promises to be an electrifying series of matches. Their journey begins on the same day as their male counterparts, as they clash with Botswana in their opener.
With Uganda already clinching seven medals at the All-Africa Games, hopes are high for the basketball contingent to add to the country’s tally.
