NEC secured a vital 2-1 victory over Maroons at the MTN Omondi Stadium, propelling them to third place in the league standings with 37 points.
In a match marked by a slow start, Maroons briefly dominated the first half. However, NEC turned the tables, with the turning point coming in the 20th minute when Cromwell Rwothomio was fouled in the box, leading to a penalty kick converted confidently by Stephen Joseph Dhata. Allan Mugalu extended NEC’s lead in the 38th minute with an assist from Brain Kayanja.
The second half saw fewer chances, but Maroons managed to pull one back in the 89th minute through Isaac Mpagi. Despite this late goal, NEC held on to secure their eleventh win of the season.
Meanwhile, Mbarara City dominated Gaddafi at Kakyeka Stadium, securing a resounding 5-0 victory. Goals from Sadat Nsubuga Joseph Akandwanaho, Wangi Muzei Wangi, Benson Muhindo, and Pius Muzei Wangi propelled the Ankole Lions to ninth place in the league standings with 27 points.
In another match, Wakiso Giants edged past Express Football Club with a 3-2 win at Wankulukuku. Goals from Kenneth Kimera, Andrew Samson Kigozi, and Shariph Kimbowa secured the victory for the Purple Sharks, while Joshua Musoke and Mugerwa Yassar scored for the Red Eagles.
Despite the win, Wakiso Giants remains in 12th place with 23 points, while Express holds onto eighth place with 29 points.
