Charles Kagimu Makes History with Uganda’s First-Ever African Games Cycling Gold

Team Uganda’s Cycling captain and African champion, has secured Uganda’s second gold medal at the African Games. Kagimu’s victory not only adds to Uganda’s medal tally but also marks the country’s inaugural gold in cycling at the African Games.

This remarkable achievement follows Uganda’s recent success in the African Games, where Husinah Kobugabe and Gladys Mbabazi clinched gold in the women’s badminton doubles event. With Kagimu’s triumph, Uganda’s medal count now stands at eight.

Kagimu isn’t new to success. In 2023, he emerged victorious in the time trial at the African Road Championships. His talent and potential were further recognized when he was selected to compete in the road race at the 2023 UCI Road World Championships.

The African Games continue in Accra, Ghana with Uganda still participating in boxing, rugby, and cricket, among other sports.
