The Uganda Cranes faced a humbling 4-0 defeat at the hands of Comoros in an international friendly held in Morocco. The match, which showcased a dominant performance from the Comoros squad, saw braces from Rafiki Said and Faiz Selemani.
Comoros wasted no time asserting their dominance as Rafiki Said struck early, netting a goal in the seventh minute of the game. Faiz Selemani swiftly followed suit, adding another goal just a minute later, plunging the Cranes into a state of despair.
Despite a strong start to the second half from Uganda, their efforts were in vain as Rafiki Said secured his second goal of the night in the 56th minute, extending Comoros’ lead to 3-0.
Faiz Selemani further buried Uganda’s hopes with his second goal of the match just 10 minutes later, sealing a convincing victory for Comoros.
Leading up to the match, Uganda boasted a superior head-to-head record, having won the previous two encounters between the two teams.
However, Comoros had better form, winning three out of their last five games, drawing one, and suffering only one loss. In contrast, Uganda’s recent performance has been lacklustre, with only two victories in their last five matches, suffering three defeats.
With this defeat behind them, Uganda now braces themselves for a challenging fixture against Ghana scheduled for Tuesday, March 26th, also in Morocco.
