Uganda’s U23 Men’s Basketball Team Secures Bronze at African Games

Uganda’s U23 men’s basketball team clinched the bronze medal at the African Games. The triumph came after a hard-fought victory over Botswana with a score of 17:11 in the third-place playoffs of the 3X3 games.

The journey to bronze saw Uganda finishing second in the group stage, trailing behind Burkina Faso. The second-place finish meant Uganda progressed to the quarter-finals where they faced off against Madagascar in a nail-biting encounter, ultimately emerging victorious with a narrow margin of 20:18.

They, however, faced defeat in the semi-finals to Algeria, with a scoreline of 21:14.

Although the semi-final loss dashed their hopes of contending for the gold, Uganda’s determination remained unwavering. In the fiercely contested third-place playoff against Botswana, they demonstrated their mettle, securing a decisive victory and claiming the bronze medal.

The final match saw Algeria emerge triumphant over Ghana, clinching the gold medal with a score of 16-11.

Uganda’s medal count now stands at 17 at the 13th African Games.
