Kitara President Deo Kasozi Questions Municipality’s Revenue Charge Decision

Kitara FC president, Deo Kasozi, believes that the decision made by the Masindi Municipal Council to impose a 10% fee on the club’s gate collections for hosting home games at the municipality stadium will significantly affect the club’s revenue.

Kasozi argues that the current collections are insufficient to support the club’s activities and emphasizes the positive influence the club has had on the area’s development when hosting games there.

He urges Masindi municipality leaders to focus on the club’s contribution to the area’s development rather than increasing revenue charges, stating, “Masindi benefits both directly and indirectly when we host games here through commodity sales, and the area is also advertised which increases visibility. The pitch is also going to be improved as a training ground for CAF, so the leaders should be happy that Kitara is hosting games there.”

“We have an MOU that takes us until the end of the season, and we did a lot of improvements to the stadium to the tune of shs 30 million, and I would not mind about the resolution but its spirit. We are trying to propagate the idea of community clubs, and they need to be supported by the area,” Kasozi noted.

With the club set to welcome second-placed BUL FC this Friday in the top-of-the-table clash, the side will look to improve its finances through increased entrance fees. “We want to stretch the gap with BUL to seven points, and we have set the game at shs 10,000 to increase club revenue and assess fans’ management of the club.”

Kitara FC currently sits atop the log with 43 points, four ahead of second-placed BUL, as the battle for the league title continues.
