City Oilers Aim to Maintain Momentum in National Basketball League

City Oilers guard Tony Drileba has said the team will hope for on a strong first-round end as they gear up to build momentum for the second round of the National Basketball League. With two crucial games remaining, the nine-time champions are eyeing victories against JT Jaguars and UCU Canons to solidify their position in the league standings.

The Andrew Tendo-coached side is set to take on JT Jaguars on Wednesday March 27 at 9pm at YMCA, Wandegeya, in a matchup anticipated to be a thrilling contest. Fans can catch all the action live on NBS Sport.

Despite facing uncertainties, including a knee injury to center Titus Lual, Drileba expressed confidence in the team’s depth and their ability to overcome challenges. Reflecting on their recent performance, wherein they secured a commanding 99-63 victory against Livingstone, Drileba remained optimistic about their prospects for the remainder of the season.

In anticipation of the upcoming clash against JT Jaguars, Drileba anticipates a tight contest, acknowledging the strength of the newcomers in the league. Led by captain Victor Bwana and featuring key players such as Fadhil Chuma, Abubakah Kasasa, and Mark Were, JT Jaguars have displayed resilience, currently sitting fifth with four wins and three losses.

Captain Bwana, reflecting on their recent victory against D-Mark Power, expressed the team’s determination to continue their upward trajectory and potentially cause an upset against the seasoned City Oilers.

In parallel, the women’s basketball action will see UCU Lady Canons taking on Miracle Ravens at 7pm at YMCA Wandegeya, promising an evening filled with exhilarating matchups.
