As Platinum Credit Heathens sit atop the Nile Special Rugby Championship standings after eight rounds of the regular season, Captain Michael Wokorach says the team is committed to ensuring they achieve positive results in each of the remaining three games.
With the top eight sides guaranteed playoffs quarterfinal slots, the Muhammad Athio-coached side has been the most impressive and sits at the top of the log. Wokorach emphasised that the team’s focus is on winning the title.
“We are still unbeaten as Heathens and we treat every game as a final. Our main target, focus, and vision are to win this championship,” he said.
“It’s been a good journey for us. We have faced all the tough teams, and now we have one of the best encounters against Buffaloes. I would say we have performed strongly against all teams, and our goal remains clear,” he added.
Having overcome KCB KBOs 25-13 over the weekend in one of the most anticipated games of the season, Wokorach points to efficiency during the set pieces as the key difference.
“KOBs are one of the best teams in Ugandan rugby, and we started off a bit slow. They put three points against us in the first minutes of the game until we made changes, regained our playing structures, dominated the set pieces, and fought until the end for the win,” he said.
“Everyone knows their role, and the task at hand is clear. We have played strongly and come out brilliantly,” he added.
The league will take a break for the Easter holiday and return on April 6th as Heathens host Kitante Eagles at Kyadondo.
