Ghana seized an early lead in the 7th minute when Jerome Opoku netted his debut goal for the Black Stars. However, Uganda swiftly responded, leveling the score in the 22nd minute with a well-taken penalty by Steven Mukwala, who plies his trade with Kotoko in Ghana.
The momentum swung back in Ghana’s favor as Jordan Ayew calmly converted a penalty in the 28th minute, marking his fourth goal in three consecutive national team appearances and putting Ghana ahead once again. Despite the setback, Uganda refused to be deterred and continued to push forward in search of an equalizer.
Their persistence paid off in the 82nd minute when Shaban Muhammad found the back of the net, securing a vital goal for Uganda and leveling the scoreline once more.
