The Netball Normalization Committee, led by Mr. Moses Mwase, has announced the appointment of an advisory panel in Uganda Netball, months after the Uganda Netball Federation’s recognition was withdrawn by National Council of Sports due to reported failure in adequately addressing significant governance issues.
This decision prompted World Netball, the sports governing body, to demand immediate resignation of federation leaders with no compensation, enabling the Normalization Committee to oversee fair and democratic elections; failure to comply would result in membership suspension by World Netball.
Speaking on NBS Sport on Monday Evening, Moses Mwase, the Normalization Committee Chairman, acknowledged the previous silence in Netball, which delayed the league’s commencement. However, he emphasized that efforts had been ongoing in silence to revitalize the sport, leading to the announcement of the advisory team.

3) Ms. Lina OKEE
4) Mr. Fred BALENZI
5) Ms. Rebecca KAVULU
6) Ms. Janet NAHAMYA

The panel’s responsibilities include advising the Normalization Committee on implementing the roadmap and priorities for developing Netball competitions in Uganda. Specifically, the panel will advise on the Uganda Netball Calendar of Activities for 2024/2025, including local, regional, continental, and international competitions, as well as the national Netball League schedule. Additionally, the panel will assist in creating a framework for quality Netball training and capacity building, liaise with relevant bodies for event coordination, and fulfill any other delegated roles as determined by the Normalization Committee.
The panel will operate under procedures established by the Normalization Committee, appointing a Secretary to manage meetings, records, and reports. They will meet at least twice a month and submit monthly reports to the Normalization Committee Chairperson, with a final completion report upon mandate fulfillment.
These activities will continue until May 31, 2024, with the possibility of extension as needed, ensuring ongoing support and development within Uganda Netball.
