10-Year-Old Patience Anyango Among Four to Represent Uganda in Tennis Africa Cup in Kigali

10-year-old Patience Anyango is among four Ugandans set to represent the country at the Tennis Africa Cup in Kigali scheduled for May 12th, 2024. She will be joined by Parvin Nangonzi in the ladies category and Samuel Atukunda Mbabazi and Jonathan Senyonga in the men’s category.

Patience defeated top seeds like Jermaima Nakawala and Parvin Nangoonzi to top the women’s category with 14 points and qualify for the Table Tennis Africa Cup. Parvin Nangozi scored 13 points to finish second with Patra Nasirumbi with 11 points and Jemimah Nakawala with 8 points coming third and fourth respectively.

In the men’s category, Samuel Atukunda Mbabazi and Jonathan Senyonga scored 17 points each to lead the men’s standings. They were closely followed by Joseph Sebatindira with 16 points and Sharif Nsereko with 15 points.

The Table Tennis Africa Cup will serve as the final qualification event for the Olympics, which will take place in Rwanda next month. Robert Jjagwe, Table Tennis President, is optimistic that the qualified players will compete well.
