Following Vipers Sports Club’s letter to the Federation of Uganda Football Association alleging biased officiating and manhandling during their Uganda Cup match against Kitara FC in Masindi, Kitara President Deo Kasozi has offered his perspective in an exclusive interview with NBS Sport.
Vipers were eliminated from the Uganda Cup after former player Paul Mucureezi converted three penalties for Kitara. Kasozi acknowledged the letter but downplayed claims of a biased home advantage for Kitara.
“We understand Vipers’ frustrations,” Kasozi said. “However, it’s important to remember that our stadium is still under development. While it may not be at the level of St. Mary’s Kitende, it has hosted over 14 StarTimes Uganda Premier League teams, including KCCA and SC Villa, without similar complaints.”
Despite defending his stadium’s suitability, Kasozi emphasized Kitara’s commitment to ensuring a smooth experience for Vipers in their upcoming league encounter.
“We’re taking steps to address any concerns Vipers might have,” Kasozi confirmed. “We’ll be doubling security presence, providing special treatment for visiting players, and offering improved seating for fans with a clear view of the action.”
Looking ahead to the crucial league match, Kasozi issued a warning to Vipers. “They should be prepared for a fierce battle,” he declared. “Kitara is bringing the heat and aiming for a win to solidify our title challenge.”
With Vipers currently sitting third in the standings, just two points behind Kitara, this upcoming match promises to be a high-stakes clash for both teams.
