You Are Supporting Other People’s Villages Instead of Your Own – Moses Magogo

During The Federation of Ugandan Football Associations (FUFA) Executive Country Tour in the Western Region, President Moses Magogo delivered a passionate plea for support towards local and community-based teams.

Magogo emphasized the importance of backing grassroots football, urging fans to rally behind teams closer to home rather than solely supporting international clubs like Liverpool and Manchester United.

“Liverpool is a village in another man’s country. Manchester is a village in another man’s country. Now you are from Mitooma and you are saying you are supporting Liverpool,” he said.

“Some people won’t even cross Kajjansi but they are supporting Liverpool,” he added.

Magogo further emphasized the effect of supporting foreign-based teams over local teams.

“You are spending money to watch those English games and your money is the one supporting them. Yet you aren’t putting any money in your local teams,” he argued.

He called upon the football leaders in the region to start sensitization drives to rally the locals to support their community teams in order to grow the game in the country.

The FUFA Executive Country Tour aims to strengthen relationships with football stakeholders and address grassroots challenges. The tour focuses on explaining FUFA’s grassroots football programs, addressing lower league issues, and engaging with stakeholders to chart a way forward for Ugandan football.

The tour will continue across various regions, including the Northern, West Nile, and North East Regions.
