City Oilers Suffer Third Straight Defeat at BAL Nile Conference

The City Oilers have suffered a third straight loss at the ongoing Nile Conference of the Basketball Africa League in Cairo, Egypt following a 79-68 loss at the hands of Libyan side Al Ahly.

The Karim Nesba coached side were undone by ball handling errors and defensive lapses as forward Lual Lual Acuil and swingman Kevin Marquis contributed 25 and 22 points respectively for Al Ahly.

Despite a team high 17 points from guard Patrick Ronald Rembert, the Oilers could not withstand the Al Ahly charge as the side established a 14-point first quarter lead.

They stretched it to a 26-point halftime lead before they sealed the result in the second half. The loss follows earlier loses against Egyptian holders Al Ahly (99-76) and Central Africa’s Bangui SC (101-88)

They will return back in action for the second round starting Wednesday against the same opponents with the top two sides at the end of the games guaranteed qualification to the playoffs due 24 May-1 June in Kigali, Rwanda.
