Kawempe Inches Closer to Women Super League Title

Matchday 15 of the 2023/24 FUFA Women Super League campaign saw triumphs and upsets as Kawempe Women Football Club edged closer to their historic title triumph, while defending champions Kampala Queens faced another setback.

The defending champions, Kampala Queens, failed to secure a much-needed victory as they settled for a 2-2 draw against She Makerere, extending their winless streak to four games. Sharon Namatovu’s brilliant brace for She Makerere was matched by goals from Teddy Najjuma and Lillian Kasuubo for Kampala Queens.

Kampala Queens now trail league leaders Kawempe, who currently hold a seven-point lead with a game in hand.

In another closely contested encounter, Rines and Uganda Martyrs played out a 2-2 stalemate while Wakiso Hill clinched a crucial 1-0 victory over She Maroons to move above the relegation zone.

The Lady Doves continued their winning streak with a narrow 1-0 victory over Asubo Ladies FC, thanks to Docus Kwikiriza’s decisive goal.

Kawempe Women Football Club who beat UCU Lady Cardinals 2-1 are now on the brink of clinching their first-ever FUFA Women Super League title, with just two wins separating them from the historic achievement.
