Score Beyond’s “Barefoot League” Gets a Big Boost from German Embassy Donation

The Score Beyond Leadership Organization is celebrating a major win for its “Best Barefoot League in The World” program in Adjumani. On April 22nd, 2024, the German Embassy donated a substantial amount of sports equipment valued at 17,140,000 Ugandan shillings to the program.

Score Beyond is a Ugandan sports-for-development NGO that uses sports to promote education retention, health and well-being, and livelihood improvement for young people. Their unique “Barefoot League” program has been running for two years after it was introduced in he country by Sports Uganda Limited UK

“This generous donation from the German Embassy will significantly boost our program,” said Mavita Ali, Director of Score Beyond. “The new equipment that includes balls and apparel will allow us to expand our offerings and cater to the diverse interests of the children by introducing more sports like quadball, volleyball, and rugby.”

The donation will also contribute to Score Beyond’s goal of expanding its reach. Ali revealed plans to open a new venue closer to the Adjumani community, making participation more accessible for local youth. “With this additional support, we hope to welcome over 200 children into the program,” she added.

The collaboration between Score Beyond and the German Embassy highlights the power of sports in fostering positive youth development in Uganda. The new equipment and potential expansion will provide more opportunities for children in Adjumani to participate in sports and gain valuable life skills.
