Kitara Tops Table with 2-1 Win Over Express In Wankulukuku

In an intense clash between Kitara and Express, both teams exhibited unwavering determination right from the outset.

Kitara launched an early assault in the 2nd minute, but Denis Omedi’s header struck the crossbar, denying them an early lead.Express had a chance from a free kick in the 8th minute, only for Kitara’s goalkeeper, Crispus Kusiima, to deny Isaac Waigona’s attempt with a solid save.

However, it was Kitara who seized the initiative in the 10th minute with a superb counterattack. Denis Omedi finished off the move brilliantly after receiving a pass from Frank Zaga Tumwesigye.

Express responded swiftly, winning a penalty in the 17th minute after Isaac Waigona was fouled in the box. Waigona calmly converted the penalty in the 18th minute, restoring parity.

Both teams had opportunities to score before halftime but could not find the back of the net. Kitara slightly edged possession with 52% at halftime.

Express started the second half strongly, but Safi Mansoor’s long-range effort in the 51st minute missed the target. In the 54th minute, Alpha Ssali had a chance for Kitara, but Express goalkeeper Abubaker Yunus made a routine save.

In the 87th minute, Omedi struck the woodwork for Kitara.

In the 7th minute of injury time, Kabon Living scored directly from a corner, giving Kitara the lead once again.

The match ended 2-1 in favor of Kitara, elevating them to the top of the table with 47 points from 25 matches. Meanwhile, Express remains in 9th place with 32 points from 25 matches.

Kitara’s next fixture is against Mbarara City in Masindi on April 30th, while Express will host NEC on May 1st.
