Liverpool Anticipate Mohamed Salah Stay Amid Contract Speculation

Liverpool Football Club is confident that Mohamed Salah will remain with the team for the upcoming season, with plans being made based on his continued presence in the squad.

Despite nearing the final year of his contract, the 31-year-old forward has not signaled any intention to depart Anfield. This aligns with Liverpool’s desire to retain Salah’s services, with the expectation being that he will extend his stay with the club.

While speculation has swirled regarding a potential move, particularly to Saudi Arabia after interest from Al Ittihad last summer, it appears Salah is inclined to remain with Liverpool. Though there remains some interest from the Saudi Pro League, it is not as aggressive as in previous transfer windows.

If Salah opts not to extend his contract with Liverpool or seek opportunities elsewhere, the SPL may revisit their pursuit of him in 2025, when he would be 33 years old and potentially available on a free transfer.

Salah’s future is among the key considerations for incoming sporting director Richard Hughes, who will also address the contract situations of captain Virgil van Dijk and vice-captain Trent Alexander-Arnold, both of whom have deals expiring simultaneously with Salah’s.

These matters will be addressed once Arne Slot’s appointment as Jurgen Klopp’s successor is finalized. Despite a recent incident where Salah and Klopp appeared to have a heated exchange during a match, there is no internal concern about their relationship, especially considering Klopp’s imminent departure.

Throughout the 2023-24 season, Salah has continued to excel, contributing 29 goals in 49 appearances for both club and country across various competitions. His consistent performances underline his importance to Liverpool’s plans moving forward.
