Boxing champion Muzamir “Mr Take Over” Ssemuddu stands on the cusp of a new chapter in his career. In an exclusive interview with NBS Sport, he expressed his excitement and determination as he prepares for his professional debut fight tomorrow against Herbert Mugarula at Obligato.
Ssemuddu leaves behind a decorated amateur career in the Boxing Champions League, a journey filled with both triumph and bittersweet memories. “There’s no denying the impact the league has had on me,” he reflected. “Being named MVP last year and securing the championships were truly special moments.”
However, a shadow still lingers from the 2022 final. “The loss to Zebra Senyange Jr. was tough,” Ssemuddu admitted. “Many felt it was an unfair decision, and that motivates me even more now.”
Stepping into the professional ranks, Ssemuddu acknowledges the positive changes sweeping through Ugandan boxing. “The sport has come a long way,” he remarked. “Gone are the days of negative associations. Today, boxing is a respected discipline, and fans feel safe attending matches. I want to thank the Uganda Boxing Federation President, Moses Muhangi, for his tireless efforts in shaping this transformation.”
Looking ahead, Ssemuddu promises his fans a thrilling ride. “My goal is to bring international fights to Uganda,” he declared. “I want to showcase my talent on the global stage and bring recognition to my homeland.”
As for his ultimate ambition? “A world boxing championship title,” he stated with unwavering confidence. “That’s the dream I’m chasing.”
For now, all eyes are on tomorrow’s professional debut. It’s the first step in Ssemuddu’s journey, and with his talent, dedication, and the lessons learned from his amateur career, he’s set to make a significant impact in the professional boxing world.
