Table-topping Kitara Football Club are bracing themselves for a showdown with familiar foes, Mbarara City, in a highly anticipated Western derby set to on Tuesday, April 30th.
Kitara hope to maintain their lead in the league standings before title rivals BUL and Vipers face off on Wednesday, May 1st.
Speaking ahead of the Western Derby, Kitara Captain Maxwell Owachigiu acknowledged the challenges ahead, emphasizing the significance of the derby encounter.
“We play a team we have never beaten in Mbarara City, and being a derby makes the game even more difficult,” he said.
Currently leading the league with 47 points, Kitara is keenly aware of the importance of securing maximum points against Mbarara City to maintain their position at the summit. In contrast, Mbarara City, positioned 11th with 29 points, is equally determined to secure the points necessary to survive relegation.
The match is set to kick off at 4 PM at Masindi Municipal Stadium and will be broadcast live on Sanyuka Prime.
