SC Villa’s aspirations for clinching this season’s league title suffered a significant setback following a defeat to rivals KCCA FC at Mandela National Stadium.
The match was crucial for both teams with a win for SC Villa firmly placing them in contention for this season’s league title.
However, it was KCCA FC who emerged victorious, thanks to Usama Arafat Kizza’s late brace.
Despite having opportunities to score, SC Villa failed to convert them into goals, with Charles Lwanga missing a big chance in the first half.
The game seemed to be heading towards a goalless draw before the breakthrough for KCCA FC arrived in the 81st minute when Usama Arafat Kizza headed home from Herbert Achai’s cross. He made sure the game was put to bed in the dying moments of the game when he added KCCA’s second.
The result leaves SC Villa in fourth place with 45 points, trailing leaders BUL FC by four points, although with a game in hand. KCCA are now sixth place in the league standings with 42 points.
SC Villa should now hope that BUL, Kitara and Vipers, who are all above them in the league standings drop points as the season reaches it’s business end.
