Namboole Stadium witnessed arguably the best game of the season UPL 23/24 as rivals KCCA dealt a blow to SC Villa’s title hopes, beating them at Namboole Stadium in a thrilling match attended by a massive crowd.
The day began with Vipers losing to title rivals Bul after a goal from Kirya saw the Venoms slip up and lose their grip on the title. The game, which showcased both teams’ flair and entertaining style of play, saw KCCA take charge with Usama Arafat Kizza scoring a second-half brace to guide KCCA FC to a win, leaving them 7 points behind table leaders Bul, who have played one more game.
The breakthrough came in the 81st minute when Usama headed home from Herbert Achai’s cross, and in the 89th minute, he slotted in the winner after a superb “Kawowo” move, leaving Villa players with their heads in shame.
The win keeps KCCA in title contention, despite their worst start to the league. At full-time, a scuffle broke out between a Villa fan and an official , who is yet to be confirmed, as the fan appeared to charge towards the player bus, claiming that mistakes made by the players are usually intentional; however, thanks to the security, the situation was managed professionally.
Table leaders Bul face NEC this weekend in the second leg of the Uganda Cup at the MTN Omondi Stadium, following a 1-1 draw, meaning NEC have an upper hand if the results remain as they are.
