Were’s impressive performance saw him clock a meet record of 48.57 seconds to secure victory in the men’s 400m hurdles.

In addition to his individual achievement, Were is part of Team Kenya’s contingent at the World Relays in Nassau, Bahamas, where he will compete in the men’s 4x400m relay alongside fellow athletes. This follows his participation in the African Games in Accra, Ghana, where he finished fourth in the men’s 400m.
