NEC Football Club has made history by clinching their maiden Stanbic Uganda Cup final appearance after defeating former champions BUL with a commanding 2-0 victory at the MTN Omondi stadium.
In a display of prowess, Joseph Dhata, who previously scored the sole goal in the reverse fixture, once again found the net, alongside Cromwell Rwothomio, securing a convincing aggregate victory of 3-1 for NEC.
Despite BUL’s impressive league performance and a recent triumph over champions Vipers, they struggled to keep up with NEC’s momentum throughout the match, ultimately conceding defeat.
With their final berth confirmed, NEC now eagerly awaits the outcome of the semi-final clash between Pajule Lions and Kitara. Kitara, currently trailing BUL by two points in the league, holds a favorable 3-1 advantage from the first leg against Pajule Lions, making them strong contenders for the final spot.
The highly anticipated final between NEC and the victor of Pajule Lions vs. Kitara is scheduled for May 25, with the venue yet to be announced.
