In a groundbreaking initiative aimed at advancing African football through education and skills development, the Confédération Africaine de Football (CAF) has entered into a landmark Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Africa’s leading higher learning institution, the University of Cape Town (UCT).
The agreement, signed by CAF’s Secretary General, Véron Mosengo-Omba, and UCT’s Council Vice-Chancellor, Professor Dayanand Reddy, establishes UCT as an Africa Centre of Education Excellence, tasked with providing specialized courses and programs tailored to the needs of African football stakeholders.
At the heart of this collaboration is CAF’s commitment to enhancing efficiency and professionalism in African football, as articulated by CAF President Dr. Patrice Motsepe. By partnering with UCT, CAF aims to empower current and future leaders of African football with the knowledge, skills, and capacity needed to drive the sport forward on the continent.
UCT, renowned for its academic excellence and global reputation, welcomes the opportunity to contribute to the development of African football through this partnership. The university’s commitment to nurturing leadership potential aligns perfectly with CAF’s vision of fostering a culture of excellence within African football.
The program, which will include a blend of online and on-site modules conducted at the University of Cape Town Graduate School of Business, aims to enhance the skills and expertise of African football stakeholders, build capacity within CAF’s 54 member associations, drive innovation, and strengthen leadership capabilities.
