Platinum Credit Heathens fullback Malcolm Okello is confident his side will accomplish the task at hand and overcome KCB KOBs in the return leg of their Nile Special Rugby Championships semifinal tie having won the first leg 29-18 over the weekend.
Okello emerged MVP having contributed 19 points to seal the win ahead of the reverse fixture set for this Saturday at Kyadondo Rugby Grounds.
A brilliant kicking display by Okello coupled with a brace of tries by center Innocent Gwokto handed the visitors a crucial away win over their arch rivals in a tie where Heathens led 6-3 at halftime before a second half resurgence saw Okello’s inspired conversion display and Innocent Gwokto tries stretch their lead to 29-6.
The home side mounted a comeback as prop Collin Kimbowa and captain Derrick Tukwasibwe scored in the second half to see the game end 29-18 going into the return leg this Saturday at Kyadondo.
“We have to attack and score more tries in the next game. With the team chemistry we have we will make it happen. We are willing to dig in deep at home and reach the final which is our goal,” Okello stated.
KCB KOBs captain Derrick Tukwasibwe says his side will need to put up a better performance on Saturday.
“We are going to work on our goal and territorial kicking together with the set pieces to put many ties on board to overturn the tie and win the game convincingly,” he said.
In the other tie, the Jinja Hippos rallied back from behind to win 28-27 at the Damwaters ahead of the reverse fixture this Saturday at the King’s Park Arena.
