RS Berkane Takes Narrow Lead Over Zamalek in First Leg of CAF Confederation Cup Final

Morocco’s RS Berkane secured a crucial 2-1 victory over Zamalek in the first leg of the TotalEnergies CAF Confederation Cup Final, setting the stage for an intense battle in the second leg. The match, held at the Berkane Municipal Stadium, witnessed a spirited performance from both sides.

RS Berkane took control early on, with captain Issoufou Dayo converting a penalty in the opening 10 minutes to give his team the lead. The hosts doubled their advantage in the 32nd minute through Adil Tahif’s header, capitalizing on a well-delivered corner.

However, Zamalek fought back strongly, with Seifeddine Jaziri scoring a crucial away goal shortly after the halftime break. Despite their efforts, the Egyptians were unable to breach RS Berkane’s resilient defense, led by the experienced Dayo.

The narrow victory gives RS Berkane a one-goal advantage heading into the second leg, which is scheduled to take place in Cairo on Sunday, 19 May.
