Sport-S Win Back to Back Volleyball League Championships

Sport-S Volleyball Club were crowned the 2024 National Volleyball League champions in the Men’s Serie A category after defeating KAVC in Game Two of a captivating best of three final series.

Having won Game One of the finals 3-0 last weekend, Sport-S needed just one more victory to clinch the title. They delivered in style, by securing a 3-1 triumph in the decisive Game Two at the Old Kampala Arena on Sunday.

Sport-S came out firing on all cylinders, dominating the opening set 25-11. However, KAVC fought back to level the match by taking the second set 25-18.

Vibrant performances from captain Dickens Otim ensured that Sport-S regained control in the second half of the contest, and impressive performances in the third and fourth sets ensured they won 25-21 and 25-18 respectively, emerging victorious with a 3-1 aggregate score.

This means they have now been crowned champions for the 6th time.

While speaking to NBS Sport, Sport-S Head Coach Benon Mugisha expressed his happiness for clinching his team’s 6th National Volleyball title. “Winning is not easy and we’re very happy to be crowned Champions,” he said.

“The consistency and teamwork of my players, both in training and during the games, has been a key factor in our success.” said Mugisha, when asked about the secret behind their successful season.

Coach Muggy, as he’s fondly referred to by Sport-S players and fans revealed that he has no plans to leave the team, as they still have more goals to achieve. “I am still available for the team. I’m going no where because I still have more to achieve with this great team,” he said.
