Accompanying him are 1st Vice President Justus Mugisha and CEO Edgar Watson.

Among the key agendas of the Congress is the selection of the host country for the 2027 Women’s World Cup. The contenders vying for this prestigious opportunity include Belgium, Germany, Netherlands, and Brazil.

Additionally, addressing the pressing issue of racism in football will be at the forefront, with FIFA emphasizing the implementation of stricter measures and a heightened commitment from all stakeholders.

Youth football development is also on the agenda, with the FIFA Council confirming the annual staging of the FIFA U-17 World Cup in Qatar starting from 2025. Moreover, the FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup is set to expand to 24 teams and will be hosted annually by Morocco until 2029.

In the lead-up to the Congress, the FIFA Council convened in Bangkok on May 15th, establishing a working group to examine potential regulatory changes.

Furthermore, the council approved the women’s international calendar for the period 2026-2029, proposing the introduction of a new Club World Cup in the winter of 2026.

Additionally, plans for the inaugural Women’s Futsal World Cup in the Philippines next year were also greenlit.
