Celebrations have kicked off after SC Villa clinched the 2024 StarTimes Uganda Premier League title, ending a 20-year drought with a 2-0 victory over NEC at the MTN Omondi Stadium.
Charles Lwanga’s 65th minute strike coupled with Hakim Kiwanuka late goal secured the 3 points and Villa’s 17th title.
Fans flooded the pitch at fulltime to join the players in celebration after the match that was graced by the Katikiro of Buganda, a dedicated Villa supporter, former Uganda Cranes coach Micho Sredojevic, who led Villa to their last title in 2004, and former Uganda Cranes captain Denis Onyango, Villa’s goalkeeper during their previous triumph.
