The Black Pearls rugby team triumphed as the 2024 women’s league national champions, decisively defeating the Ewes 60-12 in the final match held at the Kings Park Arena.
This victory meant they finished the season unbeaten for the third time, solidifing their dominance in Ugandan women’s rugby.
A standout performance from Emilly Lekuru highlighted the season, as she set a new try-scoring record with 69 tries. Charlotte Mudoola added to the team’s accolades by winning the Golden Boot award for the season.
The Most Valuable Player (MVP) of the season was awarded to Minat Namono from the Nile Rapids. Namono’s outstanding individual performances throughout the season earned her this prestigious recognition.
With the conclusion of the women’s local 15s season, attention now shifts to the upcoming national 7s series tournament.
