With over 800,000 young boys and girls from 28,862 schools and 44 countries participating in the 2023/24 season, the tournament reflects the growing interest and engagement in youth football across the continent.

In the girls’ football category, Uganda’s Kawempe Muslim Secondary School finds itself in Group B alongside formidable opponents South Africa, Togo, and The Gambia.

Meanwhile, in the boys’ football division, Uganda’s St Mary’s School Kitende has been placed in Group A, where they will face off against Tanzania and Senegal.

Both tournaments are scheduled to take place at the Amaan Stadium in Zanzibar. The boys’ competition will adhere to the full pitch size eleven aside format, while the girls will compete in the eight-aside format.

Notably, winners of both the boys’ and girls’ competitions stand to receive USD 300,000 in prize money, with the runners-up each receiving USD 200,000. Additionally, the bronze medallists will take home USD 150,000, thanks to CAF’s partnership with the Motsepe Foundation. These funds are earmarked for development projects within schools, aiming to further promote youth football and education across the continent.
