URA FC is set to appoint Alex Isabirye as their new head coach, according to reports from sports news outlet Swift Sports. Isabirye will succeed David Obua, who was relieved of his duties in April.
Following Obua’s departure, Robert Mukasa took over as interim coach, steering the team through the rest of the season. Isabirye, who has been unattached since leaving Express FC in March, is returning to URA FC, a club he previously both played for and coached.
Isabirye is celebrated for leading URA FC to their last league title in 2011. His coaching accolades include two league titles, one of which he secured with Vipers last season, and four Uganda Cups. His extensive coaching career features tenures at BUL FC, Soana, Kyetume, Kirinya JSS, Buganda Province, and Somalia’s Horsed FC.
His immediate challenge will be to guide URA FC back to winning ways following a series of disappointing results. The club and its supporters will be hoping that Isabirye’s return marks the beginning of a new era of success.
