MIB Injects USD 25 Million in Jamaica’s Olympic Preparations

For the 12th consecutive year, Marathon Insurance Brokers (MIB) is reaffirming its support for Jamaican athletes as they prepare for Olympic success. This year, MIB is providing cash and insurance services valued at $25 million to ensure the team is well-financed for the upcoming Paris 2024 Olympic Games.

Levar Smith, President and CEO of MIB, made the announcement at the Jamaica Olympic Association (JOA) launch of the Paris 2024 campaign at the Terra Nova Hotel, St. Andrew, last Thursday. Smith commended the JOA for its exceptional work in promoting the nation’s talented athletes.

“Our Jamaican athletes have demonstrated resounding and perpetual success despite being citizens of one of the smallest countries competing on the international track,” said Smith.

“This is one of the many things that highlight our country and makes all of us proud to be Jamaican,” Smith added.

MIB, recognized for its innovation and excellent service, aligns its values with the aspirations of Jamaican athletes.

“Like our athletes, Marathon is committed to working hard to achieve success. As our name suggests, we are in this for the long run and have demonstrated a track record of leveraging technology to provide convenient, accessible, and affordable insurance coverage to all Jamaicans,” noted Smith.

Smith also emphasized the broader significance of the Olympic Games as a platform for fostering global understanding, friendship, and peace.

“The world in which we live today is constantly facing adversity as well as social and political challenges. In these times, the Olympic spirit is called upon to shine even brighter and to remind us of our shared humanity and the need to enhance our capacity to overcome the daunting obstacles that face us today,” he said.
