NEC and Kitara Confident Ahead of Uganda Cup Final

With the 2024 Stanbic Uganda Cup final approaching, both finalists NEC and Kitara have expressed their readiness for the highly anticipated match. Coaches and players from both teams exuded confidence during a pre-match press conference held at the FUFA Complex, Mengo.

NEC’s head coach, Hussein Mbalangu, emphasized the team’s recovery and determination to secure victory. Despite appearing fatigued from the long season, Mbalangu assured fans that the team had rested and was prepared to give their all on Saturday, May 25th.

Bernardo Silva Looks Set for City Exit

NEC Captain Marvin Kavuma echoed Mbalangu’s sentiments, highlighting the team’s calmness and experience. Despite it being their maiden appearance in the final, Kavuma expressed confidence due to the presence of seasoned players with a winning mentality.

On the Kitara side, head coach Brian Ssenyondo praised the team’s resilience, having overcome tough competition from powerhouse teams like SC Villa and Vipers during the Uganda Cup campaign. Ssenyondo emphasized that these games had strengthened the team, making them well-prepared for the final.

Forward Dennis Omedi, a key player in Kitara’s journey, expressed confidence in the team’s unity and mindset. Omedi believes that their collective determination and winning mentality will guide them to victory on Saturday.

The winner of the Stanbic Uganda Cup will receive a cash prize of UGX 50M, with the runners-up pocketing UGX 25M. Additionally, each finalist is guaranteed to receive 10 Zakayo balls. The victorious team will also represent Uganda in the CAF Confederation Cup next season.
