JT Lady Jaguars Outclass Tomahawks in 30-Point Victory

The JT Lady Jaguars secured a commanding 74-44 win over the UPDF Lady Tomahawks in the first game of Gameweek 18 of the 2023/24 National Basketball League season.

The game held at the Lugogo Indoor Arena saw the Lady Jaguars establish an early lead, outscoring the Lady Tomahawks 22-10 in the first quarter. The momentum continued with consistent scoring in the subsequent quarters, resulting in a final score of 74-44.

Mary Priscillar Nambogo led the Jaguars with 18 points, while Among Annet contributed significantly with 6 points and 13 rebounds.

The Jaguars showcased a balanced attack, with notable performances from multiple players, including Sandra Ayikoru Wangeshi, who added 2 points, 1 rebound, and 2 assists.

The Lady Tomahawks struggled offensively, shooting only 22% from the field. Stella Maris Lunkuse was a standout for the Tomahawks, scoring 9 points and grabbing 17 rebounds. Bisoboka Naluyima also had a solid performance with 8 points, 8 rebounds, and 2 assists.

The Jaguars’ defense played a crucial role in their victory, limiting the Tomahawks to just 44 points. They forced 11 turnovers and secured 74 rebounds.

The Lady Tomahawks were unable to recover from the early deficit, despite efforts from players like Charity Amito, who scored 4 points in limited minutes.

The JT Lady Jaguars are third with 30 points, 5 behind leaders JKL Lady Dolphins, while the UPDF Lady Tomahawks are eighth with 25 points.

The Jaguars will be back in action on Saturday 1st June against the Magic Stomers.
