Fans attending Euro 2024 in Germany have been warned that wearing counterfeit jerseys could result in fines of up to €5000. Germany’s stringent anti-counterfeit laws classify wearing fake sportswear as a violation of trademark law, impacting sponsors and kit manufacturers.
The average national team jersey at Euros 2024 retails for £84.99, leading some supporters to choose cheaper alternatives. However, the potential fine of €5000 (£4,260) makes purchasing the official kit a more sensible option.
German authorities are known for conducting random checks, particularly at major transport hubs, increasing the likelihood of fans being caught with counterfeit items.
Additionally, visitors may face fines for public drinking, jaywalking, littering, and breaking curfew regulations.
